Ruth A. Godra, 78, of Wellsboro, PA, died Sunday, July 1,
2018 in Soldiers & Sailors Memorial Hospital, Wellsboro, PA. Born September 2, 1939, in Parkesburg, she
was the daughter of George and Gertrude Esh Hall. On August 29, 1959, in Parkesburg, she married
Martin W. Godra, who survives. She worked as a private duty nurse for several
years. Ruth lived a life of adventure
with her husband and sons, backpacking in the west, white water canoeing,
hunting with bow and rifle, and cross country motorcycle trips. She and Marty
owned and operated a hunting lodge in Maine for four years. They owned and operated the Oleona Country
Store for 16 years and the Susquehannock Forest Cabins nearby for four years. She was an active member of the Galeton First
Baptist Church. Ruth was especially
known for being an excellent cook. Her
talents also included craft works, quilting, counter cross stitch, and basket
weaving. She was devoted to her cat,
Buttons. Surviving besides her husband,
Martin, are: three sons, Brad (Laurie)
Godra of New Providence, Michael (Lisa) Godra of Paradise, and Jeffrey (Carol)
Godra of Willow Street; nine
grandchildren; two brothers, John (Doris) Hall of Christiana and George (Ann)
Hall of Parkesburg; a sister, Jill (Chris) Rice of Parkesburg; nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was
predeceased by a brother, Howard Hall. A
Memorial Service will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 14, 2018 in the First
Baptist Church, Galeton, PA. The Rev.
Richard Tintle, Pastor, will officiate.
