Guthrie Unveils Plans for Medical Office Buildings in the Elmira-Corning Area

Guthrie unveiled plans this week for construction of two medical office buildings in the Elmira – Corning area.
“As we rise to meet the increasing demands for services, we must also increase the physical space needed to care for our communities. The Guthrie East Corning and Guthrie Big Flats Medical Office Buildings will provide an additional 100,000 combined square feet of space in which to provide care,” said Joseph A. Scopelliti, MD, President and Chief Executive Officer of Guthrie.
The new 60,000 square foot East Corning Medical Office Building will relocate surgical and medical specialty services. These services include OB/GYN, Cardiology, General Surgery, Orthopedics, GI and Urology services. Between 25-30 providers will provide approximately 65,000 visits per year.
The 45,000 square foot Big Flats Medical Office Building (formerly Chase Pitkin) will house Cardiology, Pediatrics, Occupational Medicine, Endocrinology, Neurology, OB/GYN, Orthopedics, Pain Management, General Surgery, ENT, Pulmonary, Rehabilitation (PT/OT), Plastic Surgery, Urology, Vascular Surgery, Infectious Disease and additional square footage for future growth.
The location of services at both facilities is patient-centric. “Frequently used services such as primary care and pediatrics will stay centrally located to the communities they serve, reaffirming our commitment to Big Flats and Corning,” said Scopelliti, “while specialty services which provide hospital-based care will be located adjacent to Guthrie Corning Hospital.”
Both facilities are scheduled to open in Summer, 2019.
