Is your New York State license plate peeling? Well, you’re
definitely not alone.
Allegany County Clerk Robert Christman said people are
showing up at DMV state-wide because their license plates are peeling. He said
a defect in an older batch of plates is causing them to peel.
He’s making it a priority to get the word out that with a
little paperwork, Allegany County DMV will replace the tags for free.
“It’s no cost to the consumer. However, I am very concerned
that these plates are peeling. Because obviously it’s very important for law
enforcement,” Christman said.
