Senator Catharine Young (R, C, I- 57th District) will be presenting military medals earned by the late U.S. Army Staff Sgt. Adolph O. George Jr. in recognition of his service during the Korean War and the Cold War, at a ceremony on Saturday at the Staff Sgt. Shawn M. Clemons Memorial AMVETS Post in Cuba, New York.
The medals will be presented to Staff Sgt. George’s son, Anthony George, and daughter, Kim George, in the presence of his grandchildren, great-grandchildren and other family members and friends.

Staff Sgt. George served our country as a member of the United States Army from August of 1948 to August of 1968. He became a cryptographic maintenance specialist, trained to maintain and repair cryptographic machines, which encoded and decoded sensitive messages so they could not be read by the enemy.

Senator Young will present Staff Sgt. George’s family with: the Meritorious Unit Commendation, the Good Conduct Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Korean Service Medal with one Silver and one Bronze Service Star, the Korean Defense Service Medal, the United Nations Korea Medal, the Republic of Korea War Service Medal, the U.S. Army Expert Marksman Badge with Rifle Bar, the Expert Marksman Badge with Carbine Bar and the Sharpshooter Badge with Rifle Bar and the Cold War Certificate of Recognition.
