Laura K. Sampson. 98, of 84 West Main St., passed away July
3, 2018 at Wellsville Manor Nursing Home, following a lengthy illness. Born
December 28, 1919 in Bolivar, she was the daughter of James L. and Kathryn E.
Rosenkranz Ramsell. Laura had resided most of her life in the
Bolivar-Friendship areas and had been a graduate of Richburg Central School,
class if 1937. She also graduated from the Baptist Bible Seminary in Johnson
City, New York. For a short period of time she did clerical work for Armour
Meat Packing Co. in Tacoma, VA and later for Bausch and Lomb Corp. in Rochester
where she was an expediator. Later she was a bookkeeper at Sarah Lee Co. in
Brockport, also was employed for Hickock Manufacturing in Rochester in the mail
Dept. She was an office manager for W.T. Grant Store in Rochester.
Later she was a secretary for Philco Manufacturing Corp. in
Philadelphia and at Carnegie Melin University in Pittsburg, PA. After returning
to the Western NY, she was employed at Acme Electric Corp. for a short time.
Laura was a member of the United Church of Friendship.
Surviving are a son, Leslie K. Sampson of Woodlyn Hills, CA;
a daughter, Marilynn J. Reny of Warsaw; nine grandchildren, four great grand
children and a great great grandson; a sister, Marjorie Cyrilla Swick of
Belmont; and several nieces and nephews.
Laura was predeceased by two brothers, James Ramsell and
Robert Ramsell; and two sisters, Doris Herrington and Betty Hurd.
Friends may call at
the Treusdell Funeral Home, Friendship from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm on Friday July
6, 2018. Funeral services will be held immediately following visitations at
2:00 pm. The Rev. Kirk Kirch, pastor of the Friendship United Church will
officiate and burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Friendship. Memorials may
be made to the United Church of Friendship.
