Obituary: Dortha M. "Dot" James, 88, Scio
Dortha M. “Dot” James, 88, of Knights Creek Road, Scio, NY, died Wednesday, January 31, 2018 in Wellsville Manor after a lengthy illness. Born September 2, 1929, in Wellsville, she was the daughter of Frank and Eva Emrick Easton. On March 31, 1958, in Scio, she married Clinton James, who predeceased her in 2013. A resident of Scio for the past 59 years, she had previously resided in Belmont, Olean, and Wellsville. A graduate of Olean High School and Bryant& Stratton College, she was employed at Daystrom in Olean, Acme Electric in Cuba, Wellsville Travel Bureau, and for 25 years at the College of Ceramics at Alfred University. An active member of the First United Methodist Church in Wellsville, she had previously attended Methodist Churches in Scio and Belmont, the Christian Temple in Wellsville, and the First Baptist Church in Olean. She previously was active in the American Legion Auxiliary, Full Gospel Association, Women’s Aglow, and led a Healing Ministry for many years. Surviving are: three sons, Patrick (Michele) Barry of Wellsville, Jeffrey (Kim) James of Savona, and Martin (Mary) James of Scio; eight grandchildren, Shannon (Ryan) Alban, Christopher (Christina) Barry, Jeremy (Jolene) James, Joshua (Megan) James, Cody (Chelsie) James, Casey (Courtney) James, George Carameta, and Leslie Beckstrom; 16 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by a son, Terrence Barry, in 1980; and a step-sister, Barbara Klatte. Friends may call Sunday, February 4, 2018 from 2:00 – 4:00 and 6:00 – 8:00 PM at the Mulholland-Crowell Funeral Home, Wellsville, NY. Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM, Monday, February 5, 2018 in the First United Methodist Church, Wellsville, with the Rev. Gregory DeSalvatore and the Rev. Dr. Roy Miller co-officiating. Burial will be in Fairlawn Cemetery, Scio. Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church, 79 Madison St., Wellsville, NY 14895.
