Obituary: Msgt. Sgt.Duane M. Griswold USAF Retired, 82, Bolivar

Bolivar - Msgt. Sgt.Duane M. Griswold USAF Retired, 82, of 130 Shaner Ave. passed away on Thursday January 11, 2018 in the Jones Memorial Hospital Wellsville following a lengthy illness. Born April 10, 1935 in Bolivar, he was the son of Samuel and Irma Hinds Griswold. Duane married Paulette Guzzo on November 30, 1974 in Jacksonville Arkansas, Mrs. Griswold survives. Duane was a graduate of Allentown Central School class of 1953.He was a twenty year retired veteran of the USAF serving from 1953-1973.Following is retirement he was the superintendent of Public Works for the Village of Richburg for ten years and served as the director of Allegany County Veteran’s Service Agency from 1989-1999. He was member and past commander of the Kenyon Andrus Post 772 American Legion Bolivar, member of the Friendship American Legion Post, member and past master of Macedonia Lodge 258 F&AM Bolivar, served as District Deputy for two years and a member of Royal Arch Lodge 280 Bolivar. He was also a member of the Coudersport Pa. Consistory. Surviving in addition to his wife are six children; Tina Griswold, Randall (Debbie) Griswold Florida, Duane (Charlotte) Griswold Sutter Creek CA, Ron (Sharon) Griswold Sacramento CA.Tracey (Dennis Morgan) Ellis Cortland, N.Y. Anthony (Kristina) Ellis Bolivar; Thirteen grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren; Four Brothers, Phillip (Betty) Griswold Gifford Ill. Charles (Pauline) Griswold Oakfield N.Y. Isaac Griswold Bolivar, David (Robin) Griswold Bolivar; Five sisters, Arvilla (Emery) Gallup Smethport PA. Alice (Terry) Haxton Bolivar, Shirley (Ralph) Osgood Caledonia N.Y. , Mildred (Don) Tudor Fla, Georgia Clairmont South Carolina; Several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Samuel Griswold Jr. and Timothy Griswold. Friends may call at the Schaffner Funeral Home Inc. Bolivar on Saturday from 4-7 p.m. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Sunday January 14, 2018 at 2 p.m. Pastor Larry Allen of the Richburg First Day Baptist Church will officiate. Burial with full military honors will be in the Richburg Cemetery.
