Lois I. Jackson “servant
of the Lord”
COUDERSPORT---Lois Irene Jackson, 87, of Coudersport, went
to be with her Lord on Thursday, November 30, 2017, in Sweden Valley Manor,
Coudersport, after a short illness.
Born on March 21, 1930 in Borie, Summit Township, Potter
County, she was a daughter of Merrick Victor and Miriam Joy Reed Jackson.
Lois graduated from Coudersport High School, Class of
1947. In 1950, she graduated from
University of Pennsylvania School of Nursing in Philadelphia. In 1951 she returned to Coudersport working
as a Registered Nurse at the former Coudersport Hospital and then as a
Pennsylvania State Nurse. In that capacity in August of 1952, Lois was the RN
on duty at the 1st annual Woodsman’s Carnival at Cherry Springs State Park.
In 1954, Lois became a student at Tennessee Temple Schools
in Chattanooga, Tennessee, in preparation for the mission field. During Bible school and college, she also
worked at Baroness Erlanger Children’s Hospital. In August of 1960, she was accepted as a
missionary candidate by Baptist Mid Missions and was commissioned by Highland
Park Baptist Church in Chattanooga on October 12, 1960. Subsequently she was commissioned by North
Eulalia Baptist Church in Coudersport on February 5, 1962. Her chosen field of ministry was Mexico where
she began serving in 1965. She
ministered in Mexico for over 50 years retiring in 2012.
Lois returned home to Coudersport in 2014.
Surviving are three sisters, Greta Jackson of Sebring,
Florida, Rhea Jackson Reeves and Marilyn Jackson (Dr. Robert) Wagner, both of
Coudersport; two brothers, Donald “Buck” (Carol) Jackson and Daryl (Judy)
Jackson, both of Coudersport; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Lois was predeceased by a
brother and his wife, Dale and Jane Jackson; and a brother-in-law, Pastor
Charles Reeves.
Family and friends may call from 10 to 11a.m. on Monday,
December 4, 2017 at the North Eulalia Baptist Church, Route 49 West,
Coudersport, where funeral services will follow at 11am with Michael C. Reeves, pastor and Lois’ nephew,
officiating. Burial will be in Summit
Cemetery.

Lois’ family has entrusted her care to Kevin J. Dusenbury,
