AUSTIN---Donald J. “Don” Sypien, 65, of Austin, passed away
in his home with his loving family by his side on Wednesday, December 13, 2017,
after a short illness.
Born on April 13, 1952 in in Chicago, Illinois, he was a son
of Donald J. Como and Grace Lange. On
May 13, 1996 in Providence, RI, he married Laura F. Landry, who survives.
Don was a U.S. Army veteran having served during the Vietnam
War. He was a self-employed businessman
until retiring due to ill health.
He was a former member and past president of the Austin
Volunteer Fire Department. He enjoyed
video games and drinking beer around the campfire. His greatest love was his family.
Surviving in addition to his wife of Warwick, RI is his
mother of Oak Lawn, Illinois; two daughters, Rhiannon K. (William) Lopes of
Warwick, RI and Nicole C. (William House) Cremeans of Austin; a son, Austin V.
Sypien of Austin; five grandchildren, Ryuhs Lenartowick, Cara Geelen, Rayna
Lenartowick, Kaitlyn Geelen, and Brooklynn House; a brother, Brad (Cindy) Como
of Minnesota; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his father, Don was predeceased by three
sisters, Julie Carlson, Lisa Weiss, and Shay Como.
In keeping with Don’s wishes, there will be no public
visitation or funeral services.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Teacher’s Pet
Rescue, 19 Blackberry Lane, Coudersport, PA 16915.
Don’s family has entrusted his care to Kevin J. Dusenbury,
funeral director/owner of the Virgil L. Howard Funeral Home, Shinglehouse.
