Wellsville: Man charged with attempting to sexually abuse a child
Wellsville Police arrested Seth A. Prentice, 27 of
Allentown, charging him with attempted sexual abuse 1st (Class E Felony) and
three counts of endangering the welfare of a child. The charges stem from an
incident that allegedly took place in September in the Village of Wellsville. Police
Chief Timothy O’Grady said involved victim was “elementary age” and was a “family
acquaintance.” While not detailing the
criminal history of Prentice, the Chief did say “he is known to us.” Prentice
was processed and arraigned before Associate Wellsville Village Judge
Walsh. Prentice was committed to the
Allegany County Jail on $1,000.00 cash bail or $2,000.00 property bond. Prentice is due back in Wellsville Village
Court on October 17th at 4:30 p.m. Wellsville Police were assisted by the US.
Marshal’s Violent Felony Warrant Task Force and the New York State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation.
