Houghton --- Daniel P. Woolsey of Houghton went home to be
with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, October 21, 2017 due to Frontotemporal
Degeneration. He was born on October 23, 1955 in Sierra Leone, West Africa, a
son of Warren and Ella Phelps Woolsey. He married Kathleen Keifer who survives.
Dan was a member of St. Michael’s Church in Geneseo and was
a former professor of education and children’s literature at Houghton College.
Surviving in addition to his wife and parents are his
children, Caitlin (Niko Tombras) Woolsey both of New Haven, CT, Jesse (Haleigh)
Woolsey of Charlotte, NC, two granddaughters, Dani Woolsey and Ariadne Tombras,
two brothers, Stephen (Linda) Woolsey of Rushford, Matthew (Barbara) Woolsey of
Houghton, a sister, Ruth (Steve) Strand of Buffalo, four nieces and two
nephews. He was predeceased by a daughter Molly Woolsey in 2016.
A funeral service will be held on Sunday, October 23, 2017
at 10:30 a.m. in St. Michael’s Church, 23 Main Street, Geneseo. Rev. William
Daniel Jr. will officiate. Burial will be in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Houghton. In
lieu of flowers memorials if desired to: Houghton Royal Family Kids Camp.
