Three-Time Grammy Award Nominee Crowder to Perform at Houghton

HOUGHTON, NY - Three-time Grammy-nominated artist Crowder will perform at Houghton College on November 5, 2017 at 6:30 p.m. as part of his 20-city “American Prodigal” tour. The tour will feature special guest Jimi Cravity and introduce The Young Escape.

Crowder’s tour will feature live performances from his current chart-topping album, American Prodigal, which debuted at #5 on Billboard’s Top Albums chart, #12 on Billboard’s Top 200 chart, and #1 on the Christian & Gospel Album chart. The album’s lead single, “Run Devil Run,” was picked up by NBC’s “Sunday Night Football,” and hit #6 on the Christian Digital Songs chart. Crowder also performed at the 2016 Country Music Association Festival.

Over the past two decades, “swamp rocker” Crowder has transcended the usual boundaries associated with gospel music with lyrically powerful, musically intricate and unpredictable songs that have been sung and played everywhere, from churches to mainstream clubs across the country. Since the 2012 conclusion of David Crowder Band – his ensemble that won eight Gospel Music Association (GMA) Dove Awards and earned a Grammy Award nomination – the ever-evolving singer-songwriter has recorded two hit crossover albums and a batch of hit singles as a solo artist.

Jimi Cravity’s debut EP, Heaven, features seven songs that invite listeners to “hear the hope that has pulled him through darkness into the blinding light of an eternal promise.” Cravity draws inspiration from the heartbreaking loss of his 2 ½-year-old son, Britain, who passed away from liver cancer in 2013. Amidst this deep tragedy, Cravity found support through prayer and worship, and unexpected artistic motivation. He signed his first publishing deal in his early twenties and made a self-title EP and follow-up project. Cravity was later signed to Capitol Christian Music Group’s joint venture label sixsteprecords, joining label mates Crowder, Matt Redman, and Passion.

Capitol recording artists/songwriters Ryan Johns, McKenna Johns, Kyrsten Johns, and Luke Johns comprise The Young Escape, hailing from Southern California. The siblings – ranging from age 14 to age 20 – grew up watching bands like Audio Adrenaline, tobyMac, and Hawk Nelson at festivals, dreaming that one day they might do the same thing. The band has always had a love for upbeat, exciting live concerts, and tries to craft high-energy sets that inspire people to get out of their comfort zone and break free from the currents of culture. The Young Escape hopes that their EDM/alt-pop/rock music inspires people to escape from whatever is holding them down, and to dream like they're young again.
