Corning GOP endorses McAllister for Surrogate Court

CORNING – Corning Republicans have joined forces with GOP committees across Steuben County in support of county Assistant District Attorney Patrick McAllister’s bid for county Surrogate Court Judge.
The Corning Republican Committee met late last week and endorsed McAllister, an attorney for the past 35 years, with wide experience in criminal defense and prosecution, probate cases and administration of wills and estates.
Republican Committee Chairman Nick Weinstein said McAllister is well respected by the legal and local community as evidenced by the broad base of support he has received since announcing his candidacy in February.
“We believe Patrick McAllister has the right background for surrogate judge,” Weinstein said. “He alone has the demonstrated skills in the specific areas of law that come before the Surrogate Court Judge. He has the courage to do what is right and the common sense to see the picture.”

A county legislator for three consecutive terms, McAllister chaired the Legislature’s Administration Committee and was
vice chair of the county Legislature. He also has worked for municipalities and school districts and maintains a private practice.
Earlier last week McAllister was endorsed by the Republican Party committees in the City of Hornell and Town of Bath. McAllister also received the support of Steuben County Conservative Party Chairman Don Gwinner.
McAllister looks to fill the vacancy left by county Judge Marianne Furfure, who will retire after 20 years on the bench.

McAllister will be on the Republican Party’s Nov. 7 General Election ballot.
