Allegany County: Ward murder is NOT a "cold case"

State Police Investigators said today that the murder of Raymond Cornelius, 82, of Ward is “absolutely not a cold case.” Cornelius of Wadsworth Hill Road was murdered inside his home July 1st. Lead Investigator Jed Murphy of the Amity-based State Police told WRN today that he is “working on new leads.” He said it is “taking time…but he is working.” Murphy said the public leads have slowed, but State Police are developing new leads based on their investigation. Murphy said this case is his “main focus.” Police are still unsure of the motive and Murphy would not comment of the cause of death, although a shooting has been offered via social media. In a previous interview, State Police Senior Investigator Dan Howard said "it's a process." Murphy said this is a “challenging case…one that has kept him up at night.”Murphy said this afternoon that this case has “taken time,” and a case that the six BCI officers are “definitely working.” To the family, Murphy said that they can “call me anytime."
