State Police Investigators said today that the murder of
Raymond Cornelius, 82, of Ward is “absolutely not a cold case.” Cornelius of
Wadsworth Hill Road was murdered inside his home July 1st. Lead
Investigator Jed Murphy of the Amity-based State Police told WRN today that he
is “working on new leads.” He said it is “taking time…but he is working.” Murphy
said the public leads have slowed, but State Police are developing new leads
based on their investigation. Murphy said this case is his “main focus.” Police are still unsure of the motive and Murphy would not
comment of the cause of death, although a shooting has been offered via social media.
In a previous interview, State Police Senior Investigator Dan Howard said
"it's a process." Murphy said this is a “challenging case…one that has kept
him up at night.”Murphy said this afternoon that this case has “taken time,”
and a case that the six BCI officers are “definitely working.” To the family, Murphy said that they can “call me anytime."
