Marie D. Cary, 95, of Westfield, PA, died Monday, October 9, 2017. Born November 11, 1921, in True, WV, she was the daughter of John Elmer and Vera Juanita Snead Pennington. On June 25, 1938, in Wellsboro, PA, she married Harold J. Cary, who predeceased her on October 12, 2006. She attended the First Baptist Church in Westfield and the People’s Church of Potter Brook. Marie was a member of the Potter Brook Happy Hour Club. Surviving are: a daughter, Flora (Marvin) Rogers of Sherrills Ford, NC; a son, Joseph (Barbara) Cary of Stockton, NJ; a daughter-in-law, Joyce Cary of Westfield; 12 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; a brother, Norman (Martie) Pennington of Edgewater, MD; three sisters, Penny Hindman of Catonsville, MD, Marian Schlacter of Stratford, CT, and Betty Nicholls of Williamsburg, VA; and nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by two sons, Thomas Carlis Cary and W. James Cary; a grandson; a greatgrandson; and three siblings, Violet Early, Wesley Pennington, and Thelma Laird. Services will be private. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery, Potter Brook. Memorials may be made to the People’s Church of Potter Brook, 62 Rte. 49, Westfield, PA 16950.
