Daniel C. Harris “beloved father and grandfather”
SHINGLEHOUSE---Daniel C. “Dan” Harris, 65, of Shinglehouse,
passed away on Friday, October 6, 2017, in Cole Memorial Hospital, Coudersport,
after a long illness.
Born on April 18, 1952 in Olean, N.Y., he was a son of Cleo
M. and Rita K. Barnes Harris. On
February 15, 1992 in Shinglehouse, he married Sonya D. Cutler, who survives.
Dan was a graduate of Oswayo Valley High School in
Shinglehouse. He was a self-employed
water well driller, owning and operating Dan Harris Water Well Drilling until
retiring due to ill health.
He was a former member of the Oswayo Valley Rod and Gun Club
in Millport. He was a avid and excellent
marksman, winning second place in the Off Hand Rifle division. He was very talented in gun repair and
enjoyed making custom knives.
Surviving besides his wife are a son, Daniel C. (Brittney)
Harris of Shinglehouse; a daughter, Brandi K. (Joe Shelley) Harris of
Shinglehouse; a granddaughter, Haidin E. Shelley; and a sister, Nancy Rawson
(Dennis) Ayers of Shinglehouse.
Friends may call from 10:30am to noon on Saturday, October
28, 2017, at the Virgil L. Howard Funeral Home, 118 South Union Street,
Shinglehouse, where a celebration of life will follow at noon with the Rev.
Russell J. Horning , pastor of the First Baptist Church, Shinglehouse,
officiating. Burial will be in the Maple
Grove Cemetery, Shinglehouse.
