Hornell Police: Man Swings Axe At Officers -WLEA radio

HORNELL, NY – Hornell Police report the following:
Hornell Police officers went to 256 High Street at around 10 a.m. Monday to assist the Hornell City Marshall with an eviction. Officials say that when the officers attempted to remove the tenant, Joshua Inserro, 27, Inserro allegedly swung an axe at the officers and then barricaded himself inside the residence. Police say that after failed negotiations for over an hour, Inserro was tased and taken into custody. He is currently in Hornell City Lockup, and is charged with 2 counts of menacing a police officer, a D-felony, one count of 3rd degree criminal possession of a weapon, 2 counts of attempted assault in the 2nd degree an E felony, and one count of 4th degree criminal mischief, a misdemeanor.
