Call Homestead Museum in Hartsville (Steuben County) will be auctioned on-site Oct. 13 and 14

Contents of the former Call Homestead Museum in Hartsville (Steuben County) will be auctioned on-site Oct. 13 and 14. The museum focused on farm life in days gone by.  After it had become inactive for several years the State of New York asked Steuben County Historical Society in Bath to assume the assets.  The museum is located at the intersection of Post Road and Purdy Creek Road in Hartsville (mail address 420 Post Road, Andover). For over a year the Historical Society has been distributing archives and artifacts to museums and historical agencies in three counties, besides taking materials into its own collection.  Now the residue will be auctioned, and proceeds used to strengthen the Society and its work throughout the county.
Friday's auction will emphasize tools, horse-drawn vehicles and equipment, "barn stuff," and a 1932 Chevrolet pickup that has been on the site since it was bought new, 85 years ago.  Saturday's auction will concentrate on household materials, ceramics art, many period books, and more.
