Harlem Wizards in Belmont TONIGHT

The Harlem Wizards are coming back to Allegany County.  On Monday, May 15th at 7p.m., in the Genesee Valley Central School gym, the Wizards will be taking on a formidable foe in the Jammin’ Jaguars, a combined team of GVCS faculty and former players.
The Wizards are a show-basketball team similar to the Harlem Globetrotters.  They entertain with a combination of basketball skill, teamwork, and comedy.  Oh, and dunks – lots of dunks!  According to harlemwizards.com, the Wizards hold the current professional sports winning streak at over 2,800.
Jammin’ Jaguar and 2015 Section V champion Tyler Zlomek has no intention of extending that streak.  “I’m not accustomed to losing.  The Harlem Wizards are no exception.”  St. Bonaventure basketball graduating senior, Caleb McGuire, is looking forward to playing on his former home court, “It’s going to be fun coming home to beat a quality team.”
Tyler Landries, also playing for the Jags, asked, “When is the last time you saw a Harlem Wizards highlight on ESPN?”  When playing soccer for Alfred State, Landries’ goal from mid-field made the ESPN highlight reel.  “I’m a deadlier shot in basketball,” Landries taunted the Wizards.
Also returning from the 2015 Sectional Championship team are Daniel George, Cooper Weinman, and 1,000-point scorer and current RPI player, Carter Schneider.
Whatever the score, the game is guaranteed fun for everyone.  The Harlem Wizards have been providing smiles and laughter from warmups to the final buzzer since 1962.  Check out the Harlem Wizards vs. Jammin’ Jaguars video at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1IhsjNk79CE&feature=youtu.be
