In just 5 days John and I will be retiring. We are very excited to start this new phase of our lives. Even though there is much excitement, there also is a sadness to be stepping back from being in the restaurant every day and seeing all of our customers & friends.
We want to thank everyone who has been a part of our Collegiate lives, from all of our employees, our sales people, our customers, Alfred University, Alfred State College, all of the sports teams we have been involved with, sororities & fraternities, the art program, and all of the students that have made our work fun!
We want to thank our family, Jill & Bryan, Johnny & Ashleigh, Jody & Chuck for all their help and patience. Our grandchildren, who have also been a part of working with us in the restaurant, Tyler, Austyn, Finn, & Layla. We will miss the chance to work with the little ones, Jack & Evelyn (due in July :)), but I'm sure we will find lots for them to do!!
Thank you, Alfred community, for allowing our family to enjoy our work for the last 76 years. Starting with our parents, John & Angela Ninos in 1949, followed by us. We were lucky to be able to work along side our amazing parents for ten years, managing and learning the business from the best, before taking over the operations in 1996.
Alfred State College will be leasing and assume management of the Collegiate Restaurant. They will be expanding their culinary program, engaging other academic departments in internships, and other learning opportunities, while continuing the tradition of food service to our community.
We look forward to watch this new venture grow.
