On Saturday, 6/7/25 the Bath Fire Swift Water Team was dispatched to Canisteo to assist in an ongoing rescue mission to retrieve people from an island in the river. Around 2:44pm there was reports of a child stuck in a tube in the river, this turned out to be a group of people stuck on an island and needed to be retrieved by boat to be brought across the raging river waters to land. Bath Swift Water Technicians made entry into the river upstream from the incident via boat and worked their way down to the stranded people. Making a total of 3 trips across the river, all people were rescued successfully with no injuries. ALL UNITS were cleared around 6:41pm.
