SHINGLEHOUSE, Pa.---Virginia A. Wicker, 93, of Shinglehouse, formerly of Dillsburg, passed away on Saturday January 16, 2021 in Sweden Valley Manor, Coudersport, after a long illness.
Born on Friday, April 15, 1927 in Granite City, Illinois, she was
a daughter of Frederick E. and Clara H. Schwaner Rivoir. On May 28, 1947 in Granite City, she married
Charles M. Wicker, who passed away on January 5, 1974.
Virginia was a 60 year member of Calvary Evangelical Lutheran Church in
Mechanicsburg where she served on the Altar Guild. Virginia was the oldest
living member of the church. She was a
former member of Concordia Lutheran Church in Granite City. Virginia attended the First Baptist Church in
Shinglehouse. Virginia was a very caring person having made many lap robes for
local Catholic Rural Ministries. She had
been the oldest living member of the Wicker-Rivoir family.
Surviving are two sons, Charles R. “Bob” (Teena) Wicker of Shinglehouse
and James E. (Lynne) Wicker of Dillsburg; seven grandchildren; five
great-grandchildren; a great-grandson to be born in April; and several nieces
and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, Virginia was predeceased by a
sister, Doris M. Eaves.
Family and friends are invited to attend funeral services at 1pm on
Thursday January 21, 2021, at Calvary Evangelical Lutheran Church in
Mechanicsburg, with the Rev. Luke Zimmerman, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Dillsburg
Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the patient activity fund
of Sweden Valley Manor, 1028 East Second Street, Coudersport, PA 16915 or to
the Calvary Evangelical Lutheran Church, 208 Woods Drive, Mechanisburg, PA
17050.
Virginia entrusted her care to Kevin J. Dusenbury, funeral
