Belmont man, facing charges in Allegany County, now faces new auto theft charges in Livingston County

NORTH DANSVILLE- Sheriff Thomas J. Dougherty reports the arrest of an Allegany County resident on felony charges after an investigation into a stolen vehicle.

On January 25, 2021 at approximately 11:40 am Sheriff’s Deputies and the Dansville Police Department were dispatched to an address on McWhorter Road in the Town of North Dansville for the report of a suspicious vehicle. The caller reported that a vehicle was in the driveway of the location, and that an unknown male was inside of it.

Sheriff’s Deputies and Dansville Police Officers arrived on scene and located the vehicle. The operator of the vehicle was identified as 29-year-old Tyler J. Fisk of Belmont NY. A records check of the vehicle showed it was stolen out of the City of Rochester.

The on-scene investigation revealed that Fisk stole the vehicle from the City of Rochester and after becoming tired during the return trip, parked the vehicle in the driveway of the residence. Further investigation revealed credit cards stolen from the Town of Amity NY highway department were inside the vehicle. In addition, Deputies located baggies of suspected heroin, fentanyl, cocaine and a hypodermic instrument.

A records check also revealed that Fisk’s driver’s license had been suspended a total of nine (9) times. Sheriff’s Deputies arrested and charged Fisk with felony Criminal Possession of Stolen Property in the 3rd Degree, three (3) counts of felony Criminal Possession of Stolen Property in the 4th Degree, three (3) counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 7th Degree, Criminally Possessing a Hypodermic Instrument, and Aggravated Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle in the 2nd Degree.

Fisk was turned over to Central Booking Deputies at the Livingston County Jail for processing and pre-arraignment detention. The offenses did qualify for pre-arraignment detention under the NYS Justice Reform Act; however, a Judge may not set bail under the law and the individual must be released.

Fisk was later arraigned at the Livingston County Centralized Arraignment Part (LCCAP) at the Livingston County Jail before Village of Dansville Justice Scott Kenney. The Judge released Fisk on his own recognizance.

The incident was investigated by members of the Sheriff’s Office Patrol Division, Criminal Investigations Division, and Forensic Identification Unit under the command leadership of Sheriff’s Investigator Josh Monster. Assisting was the Dansville Police Department and the New York State Police.
