Mr. Emery was born on December 2,
1946 in Hornell to Donald and Carolyn (Smith) Emery. He was a 1964 graduate of
Andover Central School. On March 29, 1966 at the First Baptist Church of
Andover, he married Bonita F. Bickford, who survives. Bill served his country
in the United States Navy.
Bill was a machinist and worked at Dresser-Rand
in Wellsville for 44 years, retiring in 2008.
In addition to his wife Bonnie of 54
years, Bill is survived by his daughter, Michelle (Michael) Luque of Eagle,
Idaho; two sons, Mark (Tammy) Emery of Whitesville and Tim (Aubrey) Emery of
Washington, Pa.; a brother, Robert (Susan) Emery of Andover; two sisters, Susan
(Steve) Roeske of Kodak, Tenn., and Mary (David) Nevol of Andover; a grandson,
William Emery of Andover; a granddaughter, Onalee Emery of Whitesville; and
several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Bill treasured spending time with
his family, especially his grandchildren. Most weekends during the summer were
spent camping at Sun Valley Campground in Arkport. A good day for Bill was to
mow the yard, wash his car and sit on the porch shooting the breeze with
friends and neighbors. His “mild-mannered” side would often come out if drivers
passed by the house going too fast. Bill was one of those special people who
served as a father-figure to his children’s friends.
Bill was a member of First Baptist
Church of Andover, the Andover Lions, and served the community of Andover as a
Village Trustee.
Due to Covid-19 restrictions, Bill’s
family will hold a Celebration of Life at a date and time to be announced
later. Arrangements are under the direction of Baker-Swan Funeral Home in
Andover and online condolences may be offered at www.baker-swan.com.
Memorial contributions in Bill’s name may be made to Allegany County Cancer Services, Attn.: Lori Ballengee, 100 South Highland Ave., Wellsville, NY 14895.
