Whitesville: New fire engine placed in service

Press release

The Independence Fire District and Whitesville Volunteer Fire Department have placed their new pumper in service. It is a 2010 International/ KME Class A pumper with a 1250 GPM pump and carries 1,000 gallons of water, with 18,000 miles on the truck. Four firemen picked up the truck in Springfield Missouri and drove it home. The truck originated from a small paid department in Oklahoma. This truck replaces our 1994 pumper that was destroyed in an accident caused by a mechanical failure in the early fall. Insurance covered almost the complete cost of the replacement pumper. Whitesville-1 will serve the community of Independence for many years to come.
