Potter County: Luce fire department embezzlement trial postponed, again

The trial for 36-year-old Scott Andrew Luce of Genesee, PA. has been delayed, again. According to the Court of Common Pleas of Potter County, on November 2nd, defense attorney Jay David Carr filed a motion for a continuance. On November 4th, Judge John B. Leete granted the motion and rescheduled jury selection for January 5, 2021 at 9 a.m. Other motions for a continuance were granted on July 1, 2020, February 21, 2020 and September 13, 2019,

The former treasurer for the Genesee Fire and Ambulance agencies faces 128 felony and misdemeanor counts for allegedly stealing close to $100,000 from the volunteer organizations in 2017. More than three years later, the case continued to be stalled.

Luce was previously convicted of stealing more than $10,000 from the Independence Emergency Squad. In 2017 he was sentenced to a three year conditional discharge. He had to make restitution in the amount of $11,969.64.
