Wyoming County: Fatal vehicle collision results in vehicular manslaughter charge

On April 15, 2020, Bureau of Criminal Investigation arrested Michael A. Conrad, 20 of Wethersfield, NY for Vehicular Manslaughter 2nd degree (D Felony), Assault 2nd degree sub 4 (D Felony), Driving While Intoxicated and multiple traffic infractions.
On April 14, 2020 at 11:14 a.m., Warsaw-based Troopers responded to a one vehicle collision on Pleasant Valley Road in the town of Wethersfield.  Further investigation revealed that the unregistered 2005 Mazda was traveling northbound on Pleasant Valley Road at a high rate of speed and the operator, Conrad lost control and exited the roadway striking numerous trees.  The passenger Cori L. Shearing, 20 of Pike, NY was deceased at the scene and pronounced by Wyoming County Coroner.  Conrad allegedly had signs of impairment by drugs and was taken to Erie County Medical Center (ECMC) in Buffalo for injuries where a blood kit was secured.  Conrad was arrested once released from ECMC by SP Warsaw Bureau of Criminal Investigation. 
Conrad was arraigned over Skype and remanded to Wyoming County Jail on $25,000 cash or $50,000 bond bail. 
Conrad is to re-appear at the town of Wyoming Court in May 2020.
