Second Alfred State employee has tested positive for COVID-19

A second Alfred State College on-campus employee has now received a positive test result for COVID-19.  The employee was tested Tuesday and received the result yesterday (4/15/2020).  The employee has not been on campus since April 3. As is Alfred State protocol, anyone who was recently in close contact has been notified. Cleaning and sanitation has been performed in any area of concern. The college said in a statement “we continually update information about those who are on precautionary quarantine and any test results at AlfredState.edu/COVID-19/Cases.” To protect privacy, no personally identifiable information is included. The employee who tested positive is currently resting at home and feeling well.
On Monday, 39-year-old maintenance worker Monroe M.K. Bates II of Hornell died at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester. He tested positive for COVID-19 on April 6th.
