Hornell man charged in burglary, stabbing case

Steuben County Sheriff Jim Allard reports that on April 9, 2020, deputies of the Steuben County Sheriff’s Office arrested Shaun M. Haynes, 21, of Hornell Street, Hornell, New York. Deputies responded to a medical care facility in Hornell to investigate a report of a person who had received a stab wound. The investigation led to a residence on Airport Road, Town of Hornellsville. It is alleged that in the early morning hours Haynes entered or remained unlawfully in the residence on Airport Road, stabbed a person there and left the scene. He was located at his residence later that morning and taken into custody.
Haynes was charged with Burglary in the First Degree, a class B Felony, Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Third Degree, a class D Felony and Tampering with Physical Evidence, a class E Felony.
It is further alleged that Mr. Haynes was in violation of a term or condition of his NYS Parole.
Mr. Haynes was arraigned in the Centralized Arraignment Court and remanded to the Steuben County Jail in lieu of $10,000 cash bail or $20,000 bond.
