Obituary: Gloria J. Kellogg, 96, of Shinglehouse


Gloria J. Kellogg  “beloved mom, grandma, great-grandma, and great-great-grandma”
 
SHINGLEHOUSE, Pa.---Gloria J. Kellogg, 96, of Shinglehouse, went to be with her Savior on Thursday, November 7, 2019, in Sweden Valley Manor, Coudersport, after a long illness.
Born on Friday, October 19, 1923 in Myrtle, she was a daughter of John C. and Lila A. Palmer Danforth.  On October 1, 1942 in Portville, N.Y., she married Perry D. Kellogg, who passed away on October 25, 2000.
Gloria was a graduate of Shinglehouse High School, Class of 1941.  She was employed at the former Shinglehouse Market Basket from 1941 to 1943 and was employed by the former Daystrom’s in Olean, N.Y. from 1943 to 1944.  She was also employed in the cafeteria at the Shinglehouse Elementary School.
Gloria was a member of Grace Bible Independent Baptist Church in Shinglehouse where she had previously served as a hostess; organized and worked in the nursery; was a former member of the choir; worked with the vacation Bible school program; and worked with the J.A.M. Club.  She enjoyed her flower gardens and canning. Her greatest loves were her Lord and Savior and her family.
Surviving are eight children, Lonnie D. (Doris) Kellogg of Shinglehouse, Michael H. (Patty) Kellogg of Gloucester, Virginia, Nancy J. (John) Ellison of Shinglehouse, Philip D. (Robin) Kellogg of Scio, N.Y., Susan J. (Rick) Geiger of Shinglehouse, Janet D. (Dennis) James of Shinglehouse, Penny Jo (Tony) Dunkle of Bakersfield, California, and Roger D. (Rachelle) Kellogg of Shinglehouse; twenty grandchildren; thirty great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Patricia Danforth of Shinglehouse and Alice Frost of Portville, N.Y.; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, Gloria was predeceased by three sisters, Alene Perry, Grace Kellogg, and Betty Lyon; and two brothers, Byron Danforth and Harold Danforth.
Friends may call from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Friday, November 15, 2019, at the Virgil L. Howard Funeral Home, 118 South Union Street, Shinglehouse, where funeral services will follow at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Roger N. Hain, former pastor of Grace Bible Independent Baptist Church, Shinglehouse and pastor emeritus of Black Creek Baptist Church, Black Creek, N.Y., officiating.  Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Shinglehouse.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Grace Bible Independent Baptist Church, 392 Coon Crossing Road, Shinglehouse, PA 16748; to the Sweden Valley Manor Patient Activity Fund, 1028 East Second Street, Coudersport, PA 16748; or to Cole Memorial Home Health and Hospice, 102-108 South Main Street, Coudersport, PA 16915.
Gloria’s family has entrusted her care to Kevin J. Dusenbury, funeral director/owner of the Virgil L. Howard Funeral Home, Shinglehouse.
