Allegany County Legislature set to approve 2020 budget

The Allegany County Legislature Monday afternoon (11/25/19) will vote on the 2020 budget. The proposed spending plans calls for $103,690,069 in general fund appropriations. The budget increases the tax levy by 1.62% and the tax rate 0.69%. However, the Legislature has previously indicated it was working to make last moment adjustments. Changes to the budget could come Monday that would alter the tax levy (i.e., decrease). The complete tentative budget can be viewed HERE
Also on the meeting agenda:

·         Accept a grant for $3,289.65 for the Probation Department Ignition Interlock Monitoring program.

·         Budget transfer of $9,800 in Public Works for the purchase of a truck tire changer.

·         Set three public hearing dates for the county-wide Shared Services Initiative Tax Saving Plan.

·         Appointment of Edna B. Kayes as Commissioner pf Social Services.

·         Appointment of Edna B. Kayes as a Director on the Board of the Finger Lakes Southern Tier County Collaborative, Inc.

·         Creation of one full-time position of Public Health Technician in the Health Department.

·         Approval of an agreement between Ontario County and Allegany County for non-secure detention, as needed. The fiscal impact is $325 per day per juvenile.

·         Approval of an agreement between Monroe County Children’s Detention Center and Allegany County for secure detention for juvenile delinquents, juvenile and adolescent offenders. The cost would be $917 per day per juvenile.

·         Approval of addendum to the Town of Bolivar snow removal and ice control agreement. The Town of Alma did not approve a contract with Allegany County and the County is asking Bolivar to handle an additional 3.11 miles of County Road in Alma.

·         Approval of the Renewal Agreement between the New York State Unified Court System and County of Allegany, in relation to cleaning services for the interior of the Allegany County Courthouse as well as minor and emergency repairs to that facility for the period April 1, 2019, to March 31, 2020. The County is to receive $235,761 in 2020.
