When the Wellsville Village Board convenes again on December 9th, it will be at the 23 North building (23 North Main Street-former Burrous building) in Wellsville. The first weekend in December will be busy as crews will be moving village assets to the new home. Allison Green, Executive Director of Alfred Housing Committee (co-owner with Two Plus Four Construction) said tenants will be signing leases on December 13th and can move in anytime thereafter. Meanwhile, on December 11th, the Wellsville Fire Department will be conducting a walk through to familiarize firefighters about the building. One a Sunday at a future date, the fire department will also plan a training exercise on the facility.
The 23 North project was initially met with strong resistance from many in the community, but public perception has changed as villagers witnessed the building transformation. Meanwhile, for now, the Town of Wellsville will remain in the Municipal Building. However, town officials are strongly considering relocating to the Wellsville Municipal Airport until a longer term solution can be developed.
