WRN reaches deal to bring local/regional news service to WQRW radio in Wellsville

Wellsville Regional News (WRN) announced today that it has reached an agreement to provide local and regional on-air news to The New Q93.5, WQRW in Wellsville. The service is expected to begin Monday April 15th and will feature the area's first local news coverage beginning during the 5 a.m. hour.
The details are now being finalized. WQRW currently provides live news from the CBS network at the top of the hour. The agreement will bring in a multi-state award winning news anchor that will initially air at either :20 or around :36 past the hour between 5 a.m. and 10 a.m. Plans are under development to soon expand that coverage to the afternoon hours as well. WQRW owner Robert Pfuntner said he is excited to bring local news at an early hour to benefit listeners.
The news programming will begin with a conservative schedule with an all out rollout expected by the summer.
Pfuntner said he understands that radio listenership trends are changing, which is why the station streams online via the TuneIn app so people can easily listen on their smart phones or other devices. It's the only local commercial station that streams its service. Whether you are nearby, vacationing or living far away, you'll be able to stay 'close to home.'
Wellsville Regional News currently anchors news for radio stations in six markets across four states.
