Wellsville fire call uneventful

As fire engine sirens screamed through the village of Wellsville Saturday morning - and scanner land heard the alarm was at 80 South Main Street, Wild and Wet Pets, there was a brief collective gasp. That stretch of real estate also includes Mattress Express, which is winding down its 'going out of business sale.' The initial dispatch told firefighters there was a smell of something burning. When apparatus arrived, volunteers confirmed there was nothing actively on fire. The property is being purchased by a neighborhood auto dealer. Village of Wellsville Director of Public Works Director Bill Whitfield and an electric crew responded. He radioed the 911 Center in Belmont to report the issue was an internal property matter and didn't involve a Wellsville electric problem, so his team cleared from the scene.
