On April 1, state police investigated a residential fire that resulted in a fatality. At approximately 10:05 a.m. the Horseheads Town and County Fire Department was dispatched to 54 Level Acres, lot 31, for a house fire.
The residence was fully engulfed in flames upon the arrival of fire and police. While attempting to extinguish the fire, a deceased body of a male was located within the residence.
The State Police were assisted by the State Office of Fire Prevention and Control, the Horseheads, Police Department, and the Chemung County Sheriff’s Department.
The investigation is ongoing at this time.
