Potter County crash leaves elderly man with suspected serious injury

Pennsylvania State Police say a collision involving a car and tractor trailer caused potential serious injuries. Troopers said the crash occurred at 9:31 a.m. Sunday on State Route 49 in Harrison Township. According to trooper Jacob Shedden, Lee F. Mitchell, 64, of Westfield was driving his Kenworth north on Teed Hollow Road. He attempted a turn onto Route 49 but failed to see an oncoming car traveling east on the highway. A sedan, operated by 91-year-old Howard W. Phillips, also of Westfield then collided with the truck. Phillips was flown by LifeNet helicopter to Guthrie Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre, PA after sustaining suspected serious injuries. The crash remains under investigation.
