The deceased is not identifiable and it will require more extensive identification procedures (DNA, dental, etc).
I do not believe there is any cause for public alarm and I feel you are, as always in Livingston County, very safe.
We have seen the reports on social media and some are accurate. I can confirm we are looking into the possibility of it being David Clyde Morgan (Geneseo PD Officer involved shooting on traffic stop) or James Lowery (missing man from Springwater). At this point, we can not rule either out prior to more investigative/identification work. There is also the possibility it is not either of these subjects.
Please be patient as we work through this investigation and please keep the man and his daughters who came across the deceased in your thoughts.
I also wish to close with a thanks to the media for their respect at the scene and a special thanks to the Officers of the Mount Morris PD, the Park Police, the Geneseo Police, the Monroe County ME’s Office, the Livingston County Coroner’s Office, the Dispatchers who fielded the call and ran communications throughout the on scene investigation and the Deputy Sheriffs of ranks from Deputy to Undersheriff, all who handled the scene as true professionals.
We will stay in touch with you folks to keep you as informed as possible and please know how much we value your partnership with us.
