JONES MEMORIAL HOSPITAL HOSTS COMMUNITY BLOOD BANK BLOOD DRIVE

WELLSVILLE, NY— Give blood—give love on Monday, Feb. 12th, at the Community Blood Bank’s (CBB) blood drive held from 11:00 a.m.-4:30 p.m. in Walchli Room at Jones Memorial Hospital, located at 191 North Main Street.
 “With Valentine’s Day approaching, show love and support for your community by donating blood.” says Lora Cope, CBB mobile drive coordinator. “Donations made to the Community Blood Bank impact the blood supply at this hospital.”
Open to the community, the drive offers an opportunity to support area patients.
“Donating blood is the most selfless thing that you can do,” says Community Blood Bank donor Erin Yost. “I do it to help out. Ten minutes of my time can save up to three lives,” she says.
Individuals are eligible to give blood if it has been 56 days since their last donation; they are at least 17 years of age (16 with parental consent); weigh at least 110 pounds; have not received a tattoo or body piercing in the past 12 months; are in good general health and do not have a cold or the flu Donors must have a valid photo ID in order to register. Prior to donating, those giving blood should eat a good solid meal and drink at least 18 oz. of water. Appointments are not necessary, but can be made if preferred.
“Please consider donating blood if you are able,” says Cope. “February is a month to show love.”
