Allegany County: Man jailed after Cuba stabbing
A 61-year-old woman was stabbed this morning after a verbal conflict turned violent in Cuba this morning. According to State Police Investigator Scott Cicirello, Briar A. York, 20, entered the dwelling where he lives with his grandmother at 3:10 a.m. today at 65 West Main Street in Cuba. A verbal dispute quickly turned violent and York allegedly stabbed his grandmother in the shoulder with a kitchen knife. Cicirello said other family members and children were home at the time of the alleged assault but were not involved in the dispute. The man was taken into custody by Troopers without incident. York was charged by state police with felony 2nd degree assault and criminal possession of a weapon 4th. Arraigned in court, he was remanded to the Allegany County Jail. Bail was set at $5,000 cash. Cicirello said the victim was treated at the scene by Cuba EMS but declined hospital care. York will return to court January 16th.
