Alfred University Food Pantry announces next distribution date

ALFRED, NY – The Alfred University Food Pantry will be open on Saturday, Nov. 18, providing assistance to students and members of the campus and local communities in need.
The food pantry opened last month, with the first distribution held on Oct. 21. Located on the Alfred University campus in the Judson Leadership Center, corner of Ford and Sayles streets, the pantry will initially hand out food once a month. It is hoped that as the program grows, distribution will be held more frequently.
Organizers are asking for volunteers to assist with the Nov. 18 distribution, which will be held from 12-3 p.m. Volunteers are also invited to help with collection of donated items and promoting the food pantry. Anyone interested in helping can email Kathy Woughter, vice president of Student Affairs at Alfred University, at woughter@alfred.edu.
Non-perishable food items can be donated at various points on the Alfred University campus. In addition the Judson Leadership Center, collection bins are set up throughout campus: at McLane Center; the biology department at the Science Center; and the Center for Student Involvement, Powell Campus Center. Additional collection sites are being considered.
The Alfred University Food Pantry is funded by financial contributions from Larry Sell of Hornell, a 1972 Alfred University graduate. Anyone wishing to provide financial support for the food pantry should contact Woughter by phone at 607-871-2132 or by email.
