Belfast - Harold J. Weaver, 83, of 40 East Hughes Street, passed away peacefully onTuesday (October 3, 2017) at the Bath VAMC.
Born in Leon, NY, November 22, 1933, the son of Harold B. and Margaret (Marioni) Weaver, he was a lifelong area resident, and had attended Belfast Central School. In 1950 at the age of 17, he joined the US Marine Corps, and served until 1953. Harold had been a dairy farmer, and for many years logged and ran his own saw mill. His interests were horse pulling, hunting, trapping, the New York Yankees, the Buffalo Bills, watching sports and game shows, and playing cards with his family every Friday night without fail. Harold was a stoic and proud Marine that loved to talk about his travels while serving in the military during the Korean Conflict. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather.
He was predeceased by his parents, his brother Elbert, and sisters Grace, Anna, Helen and Amy.
He is survived by his wife Betty Boyd Weaver, whom he married on August 11, 1951, his 4 sons George Weaver of Angelica, David (Wanda) Weaver of Belfast, Willy (Vicki) Weaver of Belfast, Harold “Scott” (Pam) Weaver of Belfast, 3 daughters Trudy Dorsey of Angelica, Lori (Nathan) Olcott of Angelica, Margaret Young of Angelica, his sister Rosie Volkoff, 23 grandchildren, 36 great grandchildren, several nieces, and nephews.
The family will be present 2-4 p.m. Friday, October 6, 2017, at the Belfast Free Methodist Church, 11 Chestnut Street, in Belfast, where funeral services will be held at 4:00 p.m., with Pastor Bob Mackmer officiating. A private burial will be at Riverside Cemetery on Saturday with full Military Honors.
