Fire ravages Rushford home

A Saturday overnight fire wrecked a Town of Rushford home. The fire, on Main Street near the Post Office brought in volunteers and equipment from at least nine departments. The first fire chief on scene reported that flames had consumed the home. Departments responding included Rushford, Belfast, Oramel, Fillmore, Lyndon, New Hudson, Farmersville, Centerville and Cuba. Ambulances were also called in from Rushford, Houghton and Belfast. Several departments were on scene for more than five hours. Unofficial reports indicate that no one was home when the flames broke out and no serious injuries were report. The Red Cross responded as did a fire investigation team. The cause of the blaze, remains under review.
