Livingston County: Woman accused of sex offense, tips helped

LIVONIA: Sheriff Thomas J. Dougherty reports the arrest of a Lakeville woman after allegedly enticing a juvenile by cell phone. On March 3rd, 2017 the Sheriff's Office received an anonymous tip through the Livingston County Sheriff’s Office website (www.livingstoncounty.us/sheriff) that Amanda Wilson, 35, had sent inappropriate pictures and sexually graphic videos of herself to a 13-year-old.
An investigation into the matter was immediately launched by Deputy Michael Wade and Deputy Morganne Harrington.  The investigation revealed and alleges that Wilson purchased a cell phone for the boy, where numerous conversations took place. Deputies were able to locate the suspect and potential victim quickly.  Sheriff’s Investigator Brad Schneider of the Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division joined the case to assist. The investigation further alleges that Wilson sent the boy inappropriate and explicit videos and pictures of herself and that she also requested the same from the boy.
Wilson did cooperate with Deputies and her phone was seized as evidence. Wilson was arrested on March 3rd for the felony charges of Promoting Obscene Sexual Performance of a Child and Possessing an Obscene Sexual Performance of a Child, as well as Endangering the Welfare of a Child.
Wilson was turned over to Central Booking Deputies at the Livingston County Jail for processing and pre-arraignment detention.  The District Attorney's Office provided a bail recommendation of $5,000 cash or $10,000 bond.
Wilson was later arraigned on March 3rd in the Town of Livonia Court before Justice Lemen.  The Judge remanded Wilson to the custody of the Sheriff on $5,000 cash or $10,000 secured bond.
“The partnership we have with the community is the most important relationship of all,” stated Sheriff Dougherty.  “I thank the anonymous tipster for reporting this to us, which allowed us to intervene, investigate and make an arrest within hours.  The best eyes and ears come from our residents and this is a great example.”
