Third fire strikes Alfred State in 7 days

Another fire has struck Alfred State College. It's the third since November 8th. Firefighters were alerted at about 2:45 a.m. today of a confirmed fire in the "D-3 Common Area" at the MacKenzie North building. There was little damage but the alarm once again sent hundreds of students fleeing the building. According to information received by students and forwarded to Wellsville Regional News, the first arson fire occurred at 4:22 a.m. on November 8th at MacKenzie North when paper and plastic material was set on fire in a garbage can. The next was Tuesday at 5:09 a.m. when clothes were set on fire in a laundry room. Today's fire prompted another immediate response from the Alfred and Alfred Station fire departments, University Police and Allegany County Emergency Manager Jeff Luckey. State and local fire investigators were also called to the scene. There were no reported injuries in any of the fires.
