Obituary: Ida E. Case, 81, Angelica

Angelica-A loving wife, mother, grandmother, and teacher died on November 3, 2024 at her home on East Main Street in Angelica.

Born November 1, 1943, in Cuba, NY, she was the daughter of the late Walter and Mildred Fuller Patterson. On October 12, 1962 she married Donald Case who survives.
Ida graduated from Angelica Central School and Houghton College and did graduate work at SUNY Geneseo. She began her teaching career at Cuba Central School, substituted in many area schools and taught many years at Angelica Central School and Genesee Valley Central School before her retirement. Teaching was her lifetime passion.
Mrs. Case was a 50+ year member of the Angelica Methodist Church having taught Sunday School and served on many committees, had served on the Allegany Cancer Board, past secretary of Angelica Booster Citizens and a member of NYSUT. Ida was interested in antiques and did estate sales for many years as well as being active in her community.
An interest in local history led her to author books on Angelica and Allegany County Fair. She also wrote books for her grandchildren who were the joy of her life.
Mrs. Case enjoyed woodworking and carved her own working carousel. She loved reading, crafts, quilting, sewing, painting, poetry, playing cards with anyone and being with her family and grandchildren. Ida and her husband spent winters in Florida and had great memories of traveling to Mexico, Ireland and 9 other countries in Europe as well as most of the United States.
Surviving are her husband Donald Case Sr., her son Donald (Connie) Case of Belmont, her daughter Valerie (Andrew) Daciw of Angelica, 5 grandchildren Eric, Katrina, Lindsay, Emily and Ryan, 2 great grandchildren Sawyer and Hadley, 4 sisters Millicent Newcomb of Belmont, Anne (Tony) Dodge of Webster, Gen Patterson of Belmont, and Barbara (Jack) Light of Portville, several nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was predeceased by her parents, in laws, brothers Walter, Richard, Daniel, Kenneth, Roger, and her sister Geneva Dorvit.
A private Graveside Service will be held at Until the Day Dawn Cemetery in Angelica.
