Court upholds Livingston County murder conviction

A 59-year-old man, convicted in 2022 of killing his roommate will continue to serve his sentence of 20 years to life in state prison. Steven J. Adams of Caledonia also had his tampering with physical evidence conviction upheld.

In a three-page decision released Friday afternoon, the Appellate Division, Fourth Judicial Department wrote “It is hereby ORDERED that the judgment so appealed from is unanimously affirmed.” He is eligible for parole on January 19, 2042. The shooting victim was identified as 64-year-old Dale S. Ryerse.

The Court concluded, “we reject defendant’s contention that the sentence is unduly harsh and severe.”

Adams is serving his sentence at Clinton Correctional.
