Since 2016, Alfred State has designated a day to raise funds for current and future Pioneers. Needs that include scholarships, academic and mental health resources, support for athletics, and each of the college’s three academic schools.
Support on this day and the Pioneer Fund allow Alfred State to focus on the three pillars of the college’s strategic plan: Attract new students, strengthen academic and student success, and cultivate a caring community.
“It was a great Day of Giving,” stated Director of Annual Giving and Alumni Relations John Lewis. “On behalf of everyone here at Alfred State, we thank all our donors, whether they are alumni or friends of the college and our students for getting involved. This day could not have happened without all of you.”
Student Senate President Isaiah Dempson echoed Lewis’ thoughts. “We thank everyone for their donations, and we hope that we can use it to expand on the Alfred State experience.”
Alfred State College was assisted by several matching and major gift donors who helped to challenge the Pioneer community to make an even greater impact. A challenge gift from a 1981 alum, mid-day helped to ignite afternoon and evening support, and a 1962 alum finished the night off at the 11th hour with a gift to put us over the top.
Throughout the week, the Alfred State Institutional Advancement Office also collected nonperishable and personal care items to help replenish the on-campus food pantry located in The Community Needs Hub along with clothing for the campus thrift store.
