Wellsville man arrested on numerous charges in two area incidents (corrects previous post)

On December 29, 2020, SP Amity Troopers arrested Travis L. Varner, 27, of Wellsville, NY for Criminal Possession of a Weapon 2nd Degree, Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 3rd Degree, eight counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 7th Degree, two counts of Criminal Use of Drug Paraphernalia 2nd Degree, two counts of Aggravated Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle 2nd Degree, and two counts of Circumventing an Interlock Device.

Troopers investigating a December 14, 2020 one-vehicle accident on Zimmer Road in the town of Wirt in which the driver fled the scene determined Varner had been the operator. Troopers found an illegally possessed pistol and several items of drug-related evidence at the scene. Troopers investigating a December 29, 2020 suspicious vehicle complaint in the village of Belmont located Varner operating a different vehicle on Greenwich Street. He was found to be in possession of methamphetamine, LSD, clonazepam, and suboxone.

Varner was arrested and released with appearance tickets for the village of Belmont charges. He was arraigned in Allegany County Court on the town of Wirt charges and remanded to the Allegany County Jail in lieu of $2,500 bail or $5,000 bond. He is due to appear in both Allegany County Court and Belmont Village Court in January.
