BATH – The Steuben County Public Health Department received notification of the death of two individuals who had previously tested positive for COVID-19. This brings the total number of COVID-19 related deaths in Steuben County to 156. Both individuals were males who died while hospitalized. One was a resident of the City of Corning who died at age 92, and the other was a resident of the Town of Campbell who died at the age of 52.
“Steuben has lost too many to COVID-19,” said Public Health Director, Darlene Smith. “This weekend the virus led to the deaths of two individuals 40 years apart in age. We can’t guarantee how the virus will impact each individual, but we must do our best to slow the spread and save lives.”
All residents should continue to monitor themselves for COVID-19 symptoms of fever, cough, shortness of breath, chills or repeated shaking with chills, muscle pain, headache, sore throat, and new loss of taste or smell and contact their healthcare provider for instructions if feeling ill.
