Joseph F. Bunk, 67, of 5771 Route 305 North, Cuba, passed
away at home Wednesday, January 13, 2021 after a short illness.
Born on June 8, 1953, in Cuba he was a son of Joseph and
Joanne Botens Bunk. In 1997 he met the
former Anne M. Williams and they were later married in 2004.
Joe was a graduate of Cuba Central School Class of 1972. He then served in the United States Army from
1972-75.
After his military service he returned to the area and began
working for Norfolk Southern Railroad holding different positions over the
years but retired as a Foreman in 2008.
He was an entrepreneur having owned and operated the Cuba
Tire & Lube, Triple Play Ice Cream Shop and cooked chicken bbq's for many
years. He was also a longtime friend of
the Black Creek Amish Community.
Joe enjoyed hunting, fishing, remodeling the Stafford Farm,
being a hobby farmer for a few years, camping, riding motorcycle, but most of
all enjoyed spending time with his family.
He was a member of the Cuba VFW Post 2721, Shawn M. Clemens
Memorial AmVets Post 1 of Cuba, and the Cuba American Legion Post 655.
Surviving in addition to his wife are his children, Jaime
(Rich) Haas of Black Creek, Jill (Niki) Beardsley of York, South Carolina, Jodi
(Ronald) Truax of Cuba, Jo Marie (Jeff) Zeh of Black Creek, Jamie (Amy) Bump of Friendship, David
(Jennifer) Bump of King Samon, Alaska; 12 Grandchildren; His Siblings, Cathy
(John) LaFever of Cuba, Pamela (Jerry) Slocum of Camden, Deleware, Judy (Jerry)
Enders of Black Creek, Terry (Wayne) Green of Black Creek, Larry (Joni) Bunk of
Friendship, Richard (Diane) Bunk of Cuba;Many Nieces and Nephews. In addition
to his parents, he was predeceased by a sister Cindy Blecha.
Friends will be received at the Mark F. Rinker Funeral Home
& Memorial Service, Inc., 9 Bull Street, Cuba, on Saturday, January 16,
2021 from 12-2 and 4-6 P.M. at which time Funeral Services will be held. The Rev. Becky Worth will officiate.
NYS Department of Health and CDC guidelines will apply.
Memorials if desired may be made a charity of the donor’s choice.
